ヴィスワヴァ・シンボルスカ(1923~2012)
ポーランドの詩人、随筆家。ヤギェロン大学卒。生涯に発表した350編の詩作品は、いずれも批評家・読者から高く評価された。簡潔で平易ながら深遠な作風で、全世界に多数の愛読者を持つ。1996年ノーベル文学賞受賞。詩集に『Sól(塩)』(1962)、『Wielka liczba(大きな数)』(1976)、『橋の上の人たち』(1986)(工藤幸雄訳、書肆山田)、『終わりと始まり』(1993)(沼野充義訳、未知谷)、『瞬間』(2002)(沼野充義訳、未知谷)など。他に、日本で独自に編まれた『シンボルスカ詩集』(1999)(つかだみちこ訳、土曜美術社)もある。
Wisława Szymborska (1923-2012)
Polish poet and essayist. She graduated from Jagiellonian University. All 350 poems she published during her lifetime ware highly praised by critics and readers. Her laconic, plain, yet profound style has many devotee all over the world. She was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1996. Her poetry collections include Sól (Salt) (1962), Wielka liczba (Big Number) (1976), People on a Bridge (1986) (translated to Japanese by Yukio Kudo, published by Shoshi Yamada), Koniec i początek (The End and the the Biginning) (1993) (translated by Mitsuyoshi Numano, published by Michitani) and Chwila (Moment) (2002) (translated by Mitsuyoshi Numano, published by Michitani). There is also a collection of her works originally compiled in Japan, Szymborska Poems (1999) (translated by Michiko Tsukada, published by Doyo-bijutsu-sha).
