Walter Vogl, PhD, born 1958 in Wolfsberg/Austria. Studied German and Political Science at the Universities of Salzburg and Vienna. Literary scholar, critic, essayist and author. Resident in Tokyo since 1992. One year at Nihon University, since 1993 active in the German Studies Programme of the Faculty of National Science at Keio University. Professor Emeritus since 2024. For more than thirty years, he has played a leading role in presenting contemporary Austrian literature in Japan as part of the ‘Seminar for Austrian Contemporary Literature in Japan’ (www.onsem.info).
