Shigehito Shiga
Translator, Interpreter
Romanian translator and interpreter. Tour coordinator for theater and other productions. After graduating from the Faculty of Humanities at Tokyo Metropolitan University, he completed a master's degree at the University of Bucharest. After working as a journalist, he is now CEO of Siglo Co., Ltd.
Romanian works include "Jeanne et le feu (original title: Ioana și focul)" and "Old Clown Wanted" by Matei Vișniec, and "Chirița în provinție" by Vasile Alecsandri. He has translated and created subtitles for many Romanian stage production, including "Waiting for Godot" (by Beckett) and "Chekhov Machine" (by Matei Vișniec) at the E. Ionesco National Theatre. He has also produced "Lulu" (written by Frank Wedekind, directed by Silviu Purcărete) and "Princess Scarlet" (directed by Silviu Purcărete) by the Radu Stanca National Theatre in Romania (both at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre).
The Tokyo Theatre Group Kaze has worked with Matei Vișniec on many productions, including those by Moldovan director Petru Vutcărău.
