Maho Kinoshita graduated from Sophia University with a degree in Portuguese language studies. She has translated numerous Portuguese literary works into Japanese, including Brida by Paulo Coelho, A General Theory of Oblivion and The Book of Chameleons by José Eduardo Agualusa, Jerusalem by Gonçalo M. Tavares, The Elephant's Journey by José Saramago, and Lots of Things Happened to Me After I Died by Ricardo Adolfo. In 2019, she was awarded the Fifth Japan Translation Award for her translation of Galveias by José Luís Peixoto.
