Tomoko Fukuma is a translator of German-language literature. She earned her PhD from the University of Tokyo in 2004, with her dissertation focusing on the poetics of Paul Celan. She has previously served as an assistant professor at the University of Tokyo and as a full-time lecturer at Musashi University. Since 2010, she has been a professor in the German Department at Meiji University. In 2019–20, she was a visiting scholar at the University of Vienna. Her research primarily focuses on contemporary Jewish-Austrian literature, particularly works by the "second generation" of Shoah authors.
