About the European Literature Festival

Organised by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC Japan) and the Delegation of the European to Japan, the European Literature Festival is a vibrant celebration of European literature, offering Japanese audiences an exclusive opportunity to explore the rich literary traditions of Europe. Every autumn since 2017, the Festival brings together some prominent and emerging European writers and poets, to share their stories, ideas, and cultural perspectives.
Through a series of readings, workshops and discussions involving Japanese writers and translators, these voices open a window into the diverse literary landscapes of their home countries. Whether you are a literature lover or simply curious about European culture, the European Literature Festival invites you to discover new narratives, meet the authors behind the words, and immerse yourself in the storytelling that bridges continents.
Join us in this celebration of literary connections, where Europe’s finest authors bring their worlds to Japan.
